The Colorful Nso Family Union Convention at Zurich

The 4th Nso Family Union- Europe Convention took place this year at the Swiss Town of Zurich from the 14th to the 16th of August 2015. Delegates flocked in from all parts of the world recording close to 14 countries with Belgium taking the lead with about 100 delegates, followed by Germany, The UK , Switzerland, Denmark etc respectively. The Friday event was more relaxed with arrival, registration, outdoor activities, kids rehearsals, dinner and The traditional sacrifice (Ntangri) to bless the event.

Saturday the 15th was a full day starting at 10 am with arrival and registration, animation, welcome speeches, presentations, Traditional dances Lunch & cultural evening.

The rest of the evening before the Gala was graced by a cultural evening and performing live on stage this time around and to the surprised of everyone was the baby Kikum dance that was a surprise package for all thanks Shey Kaavi Wo melim for his training skills. Worth noting that these kids are born and raised in Europe and only watch the kikum dance on video.

The Nso people are very religious, the sunday event reserved for church services and BBQ and later the “Karashine night”…The service conducted by the religious head Rev Ngamsha Biaka hammered on the mystery of Assumption and the link to a useful ecuminical service…The Nsoda 5 year development plan was also highlighted while the NFU Banner and regulations were handed to Denmark as the next host of the 2016 convention in Hvidvore where it doubles as the headquarters of the NFU Organisation.
