President Biya is 83 Years today

Happy Birthday Popol. You are indeed my Man and Our Hero. Lion Man…Courage Man

President Paul Biya is the only Cameroonian politician who seems to have beaten all the 22 Million people residing in that country for the past 33 years. He has been the President of Cameroon since 6 November 1982. A native of Cameroon’s south, Biya rose rapidly as a bureaucrat under President Ahmadou Ahidjo as was given the most positive attribute as a christian to be the better leader for Cameroon.
February 13, 1933 (age 83), is the birth day and years this handsome Youth of Cameroon has lived. Many fear that in case he quits power, Cameroon might experience the worst chaos either because no one is capable of ruling the country apart from him or because he has not groomed anyone to take over from him.
Pa Frank earned  a new name Pa surprised when he dismissed and even imprisoned some of this closest ministers that many thought were unshakable. The reality was all experienced by all. But the question is, if such a man indispensable for this Great nation, remains the only one that can rule Cameroon forever, then all Cameroonians should and may never talk of any leadership potentiality anywhere and elsewhere.
Below i shall share a post by Mr Ngong Roland Alias Wo Kila in one of the online forums for you to count your teeth with your tongue and see the role some of us play in bringing our contry forward…

The coterie of sycophants are at it again!
“You are our natural candidate. We beg you to stand again in 2018. You have maintained peace and stability in our beloved Cameroon despite the turmoil and chaos in the neighbouring countries. You are our champion. Considering the stakes in terms of security, you are the only one capable and qualified to lead this country. We need a steady hand at the helm of affairs. We need you again in 2018”.
Unstated but implied: If Biya is not in charge, this country (Cameroon) is doomed. I am yet to see or hear of a single country on earth that ceases to exist or collapses beyond redemption because of the demise of a single human being. This is an outright lie. Absolutely misleading. But then the choir boys a la Foning are back in business.
Quelle insouciance! quelle desinvolture! the French would say
Paul Biya, the current President of Cameroon, to whom all these appeals are directed, will be 83 next week. In life expectancy terms in developing countries, he is way beyond standard bounds. He has been in power as President for 34 years. Prior to that he had been Secretary General at the Presidency and Ahidjo’s Prime Minister for slightly over a decade. On balance, Biya has been parading the corridors and in most circumstances wielding power at the highest levels for close to half a century. For the record: kids born in 1982, some of whom are parents with multiple kids, have known just one leader in this country of 25 million.
Such longevity in power is not good for the country. Biya himself did acknowledge as much in the 2013 end-of-year message to the Nation. He spoke like an Opposition leader condemning the inertia, corruption, inefficiency etc..etc… He conveniently forgot that this was happening under his watch. By staying on beyond his ‘use by’ date, he has not only deprived this country of new blood, new ideas, new initiatives and some alternative way of managing public business but worse, he has either condoned or fostered cronyism and a clientelist mafia that has held everyone else hostage.
Unfortunately for us all and for our country, the nightmare is not yet over. Biya will stand unless circumstances beyond his control dictate otherwise. He will win because his ‘victory’ (by hook or by crook) is pre-ordained. Then we will go back to business as usual with its bandwagon of ailments that inhibit growth and development in a country blessed by the gods.
Gosh how I wish it were different. Wishful thinking!.

Marius Youbi returns to Denmark today

Marius Youbi, an international student at Aarhus University who was asked to leave Denmark a month ago arrives Denmark again today this time on a working permit.

marius_youbi

Marius was sent out of Denmark on the 7th of January for working too much as a student. Baptized “Super student” from Cameroon, Marius intelligence and excellence in studies forced the media and sympathizers to fight for his cause. The Slogan has been;”Sending away Gold and welcoming criminality”.

Marius received a lot of support both from Denmark and without as an electrical engineering student and this has landed him a job as an engineer, reason for which he has been given a chance to come back. The Danish Media today shall focus solely on his case as broadcast over the TV. He has suddenly become not only a super student but a super star. Note that he is 30 years old.

This is just one of the many stories we have, but also should serve as a lesson to many.

We wish and hope Him well.

Kumbo water Crisis: Kumbo people stood their grounds

Kumbo people stood their grounds even against the Fon & The SDO.

kwa2

Last week some newspapers carried news of the Kumbo water crisis with some powerful media houses covering the conflict of what is referred to as the Fon and the Mayor tussle tearing the people of Kumbo Nso aside and into camps. The council vs the palace, The SDF vs the CPDM, the Kumbo water Vs the Nso water etc.

The chairman of the SDF party Ni John Fru Ndi did not stay quiet as he blamed the Fon of Nso for the escalation of the crisis attributing it to His Royal  Majesty’s involvement to politics and taking sides with the ruling party the CPDM.

kwa

Today the crisis took a different turn. The interim Nso water board (that of the palace) dispatched its workers to disconnect water from the homes of the workers of Kumbo Water Authority (KWA- that of the council) for failure to pay their bills. It is worth noting that these people did not pay bills as favors and preferential treatment offered them for their services as workers. This was done with the immediately effect and as if that was not enough, the KWA workers reacted by reconnecting the tap water.

kwa1

The palace workers became furious and decided to remove the pipes as a counter reaction. The council workers could not but seek the intervention of the administration.

kwa4

The SDO and his etat major stormed the palace for immediate action. The Fon after negotiation felt that water was an important and necessary commodity for his people irrespective of which camp they belong ordered that the the council workers be allowed access to water in their homes.

kwa3

The furious crowd that ran to the palace when they saw the SDO and his etat major drove to the palace stood their grounds that council/kwa workers were no longer going to consume free water. They took the opportunity to warn the administration of the delay of the court case which might be interpreted as  delaying justice. The crowd also threatened the mayor’s home as the next stop to completely deprive him of this commodity if action is not taken to address the situation

The SDO and his entourage left the palace with a deadlock, but the question remains, how long shall we have to take to resolve this shameful situation we find ourselves in.

From the action today, i can only but state that tension rises daily and something needs to be done, and fast as such.

An Eventful month in Kumbo and The Nso Palace

Kumbo is indeed a Blessed Town:

April remains a memorable month for the Folks of Kumbo-Nso Bui Division. It takes only Divine Providence to witness what a town Referred to as Baghdad in the early 90s during the ghost town otherwise remains the “Holy Land” because of its attachment and involvement is Religious activities and a references to Cultural and Traditional heritage.

After the Fon’s return from Babunga where he was saluted by the Muslim community there, came the Easter week that was celebrated in high gear amongst all the Christian Churches in Kumbo and its environs.

Few days later precisely on the 9th of April, Kumbo Cathedral witnessed the Ordination of 4 priests, 2 for the diocese of Kumbo, 2 candidates of the OFM capuchins. The ordinations took place in St Theresa cathedral Kumbo officiated by the Rt Rev George Nkuo.

The Ordination paved the way for the Mayor’s day on  Monday the 13th of April 2015 marking the 10th Edition.
The Mayor of Kumbo Council Mr Njong Donatus Fonyuy reached out and communed with the less privileged of the Municipality by providing them with some basic needs such as soap, food stuff, clothing, health care, school fees, office equipment, etc.

A Day later, which is the 14th of April, some of the Newly Ordained priests were in St Aloysius Minor Seminary, Kitiwum – Kumbo as ex-students  in an act of thanksgiving to God and to the institution. They were Frs Leo Ndanjong, Parfait Cheo and Lesley Fonye of the Archdiocese of Bamenda, Frs Paul Yong, Emile Bunila of the Diocese of Kumbo.

Kumbo Priests

Rev Fr Emile Bunila with roots from the Royal Family on the 15th of April Celebrated his First Mass at the Fon’s Palace with “Father”, HRM the Fon of Nso playing not only an important and participatory role but also grasped the opportunity to receive God’s Blessing’s through the hands of the Newly Ordained. A First mass that did not only witness a huge congregation but a flock of priests who stormed the Palace Hall to pray with their brother and colleague Rev Emile.

Last week, the Fon was busy communing with the Christians of Presbyterian Faith, when more than fifteen chiefs from Monatele in the south region stormed the palace.

According to Bulami Edward who is also accredited for some of the images, “They came to pay a visit to the senior divisional officer for Bui NZEKI Theophile, who had served in their place for five years.” The SDO Then took them to receive traditional Blessings from the King and they were granted a VIP Reception, reserved only for the Royals.
The Month has not ended yet, Rev Fr Cornelius Safe A Kumbo Diocesan Priest on further studies in the UK and Rev Fr Dufe Joseph (Wo Milan) A Teacher at the St Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary (STAMS) and Parish Priest of Sop Parish of the Capuchin order shall be celebrating their 15th Anniversaries as priests respectively ordained on the 28th of April 2000 by the then Bishop Cornelius Fontem Esua.
